Jesus Munoz

For Jesus Munoz, a beater car became a blessing in disguise—his introduction to Berg Performance at 16 years old. At the time, Jesus was already on his second VW, driving a 2001 Jetta 1.8T and filled with buyer’s remorse when it broke down on him after just a few months of owning it. From lemon to made in the shade with lemonade, a referral brought him through the threshold of Berg Performance to meet what would become not only his future employer, but also his role models and best friends to this day.

Jesus started working for Berg right after high school for about three years as a maintenance coordinator while he attended the automotive technology program at Front Range Community College. During that time, working in the shop taught him new skills, and the experience also challenged his creativity and craftsmanship, earning Jesus the title “jack of all trades,” so dubbed by Aaron. One project in particular—creating a closet door handle out of an intermediate shaft—stands out. With some trial and error, Jesus was able to take the fixture from flimsy to functional, and attractive at that.

With an appreciation for cars since early childhood, Jesus’ Audi affinity was clinched after going for a ride in Aaron’s S4 at the track—that’s when he knew he had to build himself an Audi. Having the opportunity to work alongside some great technicians had the same effect toward determining his career choice, and he is genuinely pleased to represent the Audi brand. As a natural and planned next step in his career, Jesus moved on to work for Audi Flatirons, where he’s currently obtaining factory training as an apprentice technician.

Regarding that bespoke build inspired by S4 track laps, Jesus mashed up a favorite body style, the B6 Avant, with the power of a 2.7T from a crashed Allroad parts car—a project he started at about 19 years old. Putting in the long hours after school and work on his custom crossbreed was all worth it in the end, about a year and a half later, when he was able to get the car ripping on the roads.

The Jesus future dream garage holds a space for a Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 and/or a Porsche 991 GT2 RS.
